Bringing together higher education institutions, free software projects and enterprises, as well as all type of learners, openSE (www.opense.net) has reached its final stage and full force by developing a platform (virtual environment) that allows the continuous provision of up-to-date and relevant learning materials and opportunities within the Software Engineering area.

Such approach allows the matching of learners' interests and employers' demand, providing firms with better educated employees and allowing learners to acquire an enhanced set of skills in comparison to traditional education.

Because of its potential, the project consortium is glad to announce that the openSE platform will continue to be available, updated and maintained by Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Additionally, some openSE team members and other entities who might want to join this virtual environment will continue to add, update and support new contents and opportunities.

By exploring the openSE platform you will also find the foundation documents that provide the basis for the openSE framework and are the result of a joint effort on research and development by the openSE team. These include the Requirement Specification Document of Organizational framework, the Content Framework, the Open Standards Policy and the Learner support framework.

We expect that such information to be solid enough for others to build upon the work of the openSE project and to develop Open Education Concept further!
